Accommodations

The Office of Institutional Equity and Accessibility (OIEA) facilitates an interactive process with each faculty member, psychiatry resident, postdoctoral and postgraduate associate and fellow who requests an adjustment to a job, work environment, work policy or practice (an “accommodation”) to apply for a job, perform their job duties or enjoy the privileges and benefits of employment. OIEA facilitates different processes based on the nature of the request, but all these processes are designed to confirm the individual’s eligibility for the process and identify appropriate accommodations based on their needs in an individualized interactive process that includes the manager of the individual making the request and other stakeholders. The applicant and the manager are both integral parts of the interactive process and help ensure that the accommodation is reasonable and does not impose an undue hardship on the unit or the University.

OIEA also facilitates the accommodation process for faculty and staff with a need for a workplace accommodation for their religious beliefs or practices.
